The rules that oblige businesses to spot and report money that may come from crime. For gambling companies it means knowing who their customers are and where large sums come from.
In practice
A casino that lets a customer deposit and lose large amounts without asking how the money was earned risks a penalty for anti-money laundering failures. In Great Britain the detailed duties for casinos, online and land-based, are set out in the Money Laundering Regulations 2017.
