Someone entrusted with a prominent public function, such as a minister, member of parliament or senior judge. Their family members and known close associates are treated with the same care.

Because such a position can be abused for corruption, a casino that takes on a politically exposed person as a customer must apply enhanced due diligence, including establishing the source of their wealth and funds.
