Statutory levy
A compulsory charge on gambling operators licensed in Great Britain that funds research into gambling harm, its prevention and treatment. It replaced voluntary industry contributions in April 2025.
In practice
The levy is collected by the Gambling Commission and is worked out as a percentage of each operator's gross gambling yield, with different rates for different kinds of gambling business.
